The Stop Politicians Profiting from War Act of 2025 prohibits Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from owning or trading stocks, bonds, commodities, or other securities significantly based on defense contractors. Covered defense contractors are those with Department of Defense contracts. Exceptions include certain widely held investment funds, Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act shares, U.S. Treasury bills, notes, or bonds, and government employee retirement plans.
